Open Day – The Final Countdown!

Hello folks!

Long time no see!

The family has been really busy recently with The Kells, we have been open a few weeks now and seen a few new faces and a few familiar ones!

However now the biggest event in The Kells calendar is about to begin. The grand opening of the gallery!

The race is on to get everything prepared, the picture frames dusted, prints printed, coffee machine at the ready, and cakes on the go! Oh my!

This post is just a quick shout out to all, because everyone of you is invited to the first Kells event!! Running over the 7th and 8th September you’ll be able to see the new gallery and with David’s old and new work in its new home. Compared to the old gallery at Myrtle Hill we’ve expanded to include refreshments and we’ve been working hard to prepare the land for visitors, there’s now gorgeous woodland, garden and riverbank walks to enjoy. The studio will be open so you can see exactly where David paints, art works in progress and a peek at where his art lessons will be based (you could even book a little lesson while you’re there!).

As well as speaking to David and viewing the new gallery, we’ll be running a ‘Country Marketplace’. Fran will be will there offering homemade produce and plants for sale and will also be offering some locally sourced refreshments for sale too. We’re also very pleased to announce that Anne Warburton and John Mather will also be there to show off their wares!

Fran's cakes - Almost too good to eat!... Almost!

Anne Warburton is a very talented textile crafter and you’ll be able to see a range of Anne’s gorgeous quilts and other craft goodies at the market. If you want a sneak peek at some of her work check out her Facebook page: Anne’s Quilts. She’ll be there for both days and is more than happy for you to pick her brains about all things crafts!

John will have his stall at the ready to show off his lovely wood frames and reclaim goods from his company Little Shop of Mirrors, he is an expert in framing and will be there for any questions you may have (maybe have a quick chat about framing that newly bought print of David’s?). If you want to check out John’s work head over to his Facebook page:

There’ll be free (I’ll say it again: *FREE*) refreshments available during the day including various light snack appetisers, tea, coffee, juice and maybe a odd glass of!

We’re really excited and hope you’ll be able to come and visit on the 7th-8th, 10am til 6pm. We look forward to seeing you all!

See you soon!

Nicola
